Canadians are tired of Politics.
Who can blame them?
We lack leaders who care or who actually stand by their guns (May being the exception).
Appraising parliament, it is shocking to see the general incompetence, and realize our country hasn't crumbled—yet. Even our Prime Minister, veils his true goals for this country! I base this how it is impossible for the former leader of the Reform Party to undergo such a drastic shift to the point where he's bragging about his quasi-Keynesian plan. A man who claims to be from a school thought where “no government” is a virtue most be lying between his fangs to say he believes stimulus is a good idea.
This is frightening.
The Prime Minister has multiple personality disorder: Minority Government Leader Harper—and Stephen Harper.
Stephen Harper's what we'll see if he gets a majority—a reform party majority. The problem is clear though: he is prostituting his political career for power. It isn't safe for such a megalomaniac to hold the highest office. Harper has force-fed Canadians elections fantasizing he'll get a majority which only makes parliament more dysfunctional election after election.
Constant elections forces parties to scramble for success in the latest polls—something they weren't elected to office to do. Every time anyone gets close to 40% they try to trigger an election...
Except for the liberals, who have lost their ability to reason. They cannot win an election yet are hell-bent on making every week a stage over how to avert the next election: they're just putting Canadians through a fright—even though it's obvious the NDP will be supporting the government. The liberals are illustrating their hypocrisy now that they've lost confidence in the beginning of the economic recovery while supporting Harper's worsening of the economy in the midst of the recession!
The system isn't pretty. Simply put: Canadians have to get involved in politics again. We need a movement to draw all Canadians back into the political system: to join parties; to campaign; to watch the debates; to debate and discuss with their friends and neighbours.
We cannot let our civil society wither away so we can become radical objectivists. If so, Harper's won.
Low voter turnout is disturbing because it suggests we are evolving into a system where, and pardon my frankness, Canadians don't care.
Nor can we expect those in parliament to drive or nourish the movement we need; current MPs are in large part the source of the alienation.
Canadians are like parents suffering through children back-seat driving while bickering at the top of their lungs.
We have elections instead of debate—and attack-ads instead of promoting a healthy civil society. I'm calling on all Canadians to do something—demand better.
It can only be an uphill battle.

Let's Do What We Can
Changing public opinion is difficult. I myself have trouble finding much hope in voting. I live in a "solid C, Conservative riding.
I will vote, I will encourage other to do so, I will do what I can to help spread the message of change.
Most scary to me is not the Conservative's hidden agenda, which is just scary. It's their current agenda that is terrifying.
They do not seem to support: the CBC, the CWB ( Canadian Wheat Board ), same sex marriage, the gun registry, or anything to do with Kyoto to name a few.
We are in real trouble if Harper gets a majority and is allowed to make the changes he currently cannot make due to the MAJORITY of parliament opposing it.
