"Jump in the lake"
On January 29th. I dropped a copy of the Green Party's Alternate Economic Plan off at our MP 's (Dick Harris, Conservative) office for him to read during his spare time while Parliament is prorogued. To my non-surprise, nobody was there.
I also sent a Letter to the Editor to all the newspapers in our riding begging our MP to go back to work and pointing out that the Alternate Economic Plan deals with the economic and employment issues plagueing our riding.
The Council of Canadians staged a pro-democracy rally/parade in Williams Lake and charged Mr. Harris with not working during the prorogation. He has responded to this in the local papers by inviting all those who don't believe he is working to "jump in the lake". Being that this is January, if he truly were in the riding he would know the lakes are all frozen. I'm not into Polar Bear swims myself, but I would gladly take him up on his other offer and drive around with him for a day as he tours the riding delivering over-sized cheques with the Conservative logo on them to the non-profit organizations that applied for government program funds last year. Or - to meet other politicians on the luncheon-meeting circuit. We Greens could use the exposure.
