Contracting out of census work to Lockheed Martin Corporation unethical and immoral, it should go to NHS or public health peopl
PLEASE, PLEASE get as many people as you can to click on the Government survey below and use the comments section to register opposition to Government contracts for people (Lockheed Martin) who are in the business of destroying life.
The survey has a “Comments” section at the end. I used it to say that the Government is not addressing the problem which is the contracting-out of census work to Lockheed Martin Corporation.
There are other new developments regarding Lockheed Martin – see the following emails.
I have been contacting the people who are lobbying to keep the census long form. They are unaware of the involvement of Lockheed Martin.
The Government spin is now that they “bought” software for the census from Lockheed; it is no longer “contracted out” or “outsourced”. There is, of course, no mention that Lockheed Martin helped decide to launch an illegal war of aggression on Iraq. They have been manufacturers of land mines and cluster munitions, both in contravention of International and Canadian law. They have a long list of court convictions and are well-known for procurement fraud (bilking tax-payers). They spend millions on lobbying and political contributions and are richly rewarded with U.S. Government contracts. It will be no different in Canada.
Many thanks!
Sandra

Statistics Canada - Census 2011 Changes : Opinion Survey
On June 26th, 2010, Statistics Canada "announced" that the information previously collected by the census mandatory long-form questionnaire will now be collected as part of the new voluntary National Household Survey (NHS).
According to Erik Waddell, a spokesman for Industry Minister Tony Clement: "This change was made to reasonably limit what many Canadians felt was an intrusion of their personal privacy."
[NOTE: This concern was never explicitly reported in the 2011 Census Content Consultation Report (April through November 2007) although it was mentioned briefly that "content will not be added if deemed too sensitive or intrusive"].
Tony Clement later acknowledged in an interview that no consultations were undertaken before making the decision.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
In this context, the present survey will serve as an informal citizens' consultation process in response to the recent changes to the Census 2011.
Please take 3-5 minutes to answer the following questions (anonymously) and invite your colleagues, friends and fellow citizens to do the same before July 16th, 2010.
The collective responses will then be compiled into a report and forwarded to Tony Clement, Minister of Industry and Munir A. Sheikh, Chief Statistician of Canada.
Thank you in advance for your collaboration!

The results of the present survey will not be scientifically valid because... ...and they will not be valid (which reaffirms the fact that the mandatory Census survey is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to collect valid information on Canadian society). Check all that applies:
· Only the people who want to answer will answer (unlike the mandatory Census survey)
· There is no control on how many times a user can answer the survey
· The survey creators are obviously biased
· None of the above
