Jason Blanch

Jason Blanch, an outdoor enthusiast and educator, is the Green Party candidate in the riding of Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley. He lives in Amherst with his wife Julie and their two children.

Jason is an Addiction Counsellor at the Springhill Detox Center and a substitute teacher at both the Westmorland Institution and in New Brunswick School District  2.

In addition to spending more then a decade advocating for environmental change in his home base of Cumberland County, Jason has worked as an environmental educator in West Africa, Central America and British Columbia.

Jason was the first Chair of the Atlantic Canada Chapter of the Sierra Club of Canada and the founder and director of the Nappan Project, an environmental education based non-governmental organization based outside Amherst, Nova Scotia.

As well as holding a BA in Sociology and Anthropology from Mount Allison University Jason holds a Graduate degree in Adult Education (MA.Ed.) from St. Francis Xavier University.

Jason decided to enter politics because he believes that an individual citizen cannot make significant environmental or social change without a voice of encouragement, the support of government. Jason believes that the Green Party can be that voice.

A decade of working with individuals and families in an effort to help them choose an environmental lifestyle has demonstrated to Jason that government policy continues to support the status quo, which is characterized by the systematic destruction of life-sustaining ecosystems in exchange for short term gains, usually only seen by corporate executives and shareholders. The earth today is in a state of crisis that is characterized by climate change, chemical pollution, ocean dead zones, loss of habitat and species' extinction.

Jason Blanch is the nominated candidate for the Green Party of Canada in the riding of Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley.
