Tiziana Centazzo

Tiziana Centazzo is the second child of Italian immigrants that came to Canada in the 50’s.  The values and respecting the environment were ingrained in her at a young age by her parents.  Over the years Tiziana became more and more concerned, not only with the deteriorating environment but also with wasteful government budgetary policies.  The 2008 economic crisis was the breaking point that convinced  her that the current   political system is broken and that the status quo is no longer acceptable.  So in 2009  she joined the Green Party of Canada  and founded  the Bourassa Association.  Tiziana has decided to run as candidate for the Bourassa riding because she feels that the social and economic challenges in the riding are not being addressed quickly enough. She has been living in Montreal Nord for the last 35 years and  is currently working  as a customer service representative.

Tiziana graduated from McGill University with a MSc. A in chemistry and worked many years as a chemist in R&D.  She has worked on projects to reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing processes and developed environmentally friendly products. Because of her strong science background, Tiziana understands the urgent need to address environmental issues.  Tiziana also had the opportunity to live and teach English abroad in Europe. Seeing how European countries handle their congestion and pollution, made her more open to different ideas and approaches.

The Green Party of Canada was a natural choice for Tiziana because it is the only alternative for change. The oil spill off the Gulf of Mexico last summer and the Fukushima nuclear accident demonstrate how important it is for governments to make balanced decisions with people’s wellness in mind. Being Green is more than just dealing with the environment; it’s also about improving the quality of life.  The creation of workplace child care spaces through a direct tax credit to employers, encouraging the local agricultural economy which in turn would create jobs and allow for cheaper and better quality food, changes to the freight and passenger rail network resulting in cheaper transportation of goods and less travel time for commuters are just a few of the many ways that the Green Party can improve the lives of people and reduce their daily stress.

Aside from the Green Party, Tiziana spends her leisure time working out, playing tennis and enjoying the beautiful Quebec countryside.  A crazy animal lover she is determined to keep the air and water, clean and free for the future generations of all living things.

Tiziana Centazzo is the nominated candidate for the Green Party of Canada in the riding of Bourassa.
