Brent Neil
Brent Neil is an avid aquarist, a community volunteer, and has been involved in politics since the age of 12. He has lived in Quebec for 10 years. At the age of 21 Brent is one of the youngest candidates out there. Brent became a candidate for the Green Party of Canada for Laval-les-Iles the first election he was able to. Brent chose to run for the Green Party because he felt it is the only party that is taking the biggest issues with our country, and not only addressing them but providing practical and realistic long term solutions. Brent strongly believes in the Green Party way of Smart Economy, True Democracy, Strong Communities and achieving those goals through long term careful planning.
Brent attended and graduated from John Abbott College’s science program. Upon completion of his science degree, Brent attended McGill University in the field of science and technology for teaching high school. However, Brent decided this was not the right path for him and is currently pursuing other interests in the field of aviation.
Brent has participated in many community activities during his school years including: multiple shave to save campaigns with mix 96; multiple years of volunteering as a councillor at a day camp; and multiple years of volunteering as a councillor at a sleep away camp. Brent was also instrumental in bring political discourse into his high school during the 39th general election in 2006. As an aquarist the marine environment is very important to Brent. Brent routinely mentions and discusses conservation issues with fellow aquarists and has attended and aided in conferences relating to conservation and the aquarium industry.
Brent has not been with the Green Party for many years, but he intends to stay with the Green Party for the long haul. Actively following politics since he was 12, Brent was very excited the first election he got to vote, so much so that he took it a step further and at the age of 18, ran as a candidate for the Green Party.
Brent is also an avid cyclist and can be easily identified during the warmer months as he rides everywhere on his bike. In fact Brent enjoys cycling and the reduction in cost and green house gasses so much that he puts about 2000km a year onto his bike during the warmer months. Brent is a young candidate with a hopefully long future ahead of him. Look out for him during the next election! You might be surprised what someone so politically young can do!
