Haute-Gaspésie - La Mitis - Matane - Matapédia
Louis Drainville is, before all else, the father of two adorable children. He is a veterinary technician, biologist, and agronomist. As someone involved with his community, he has acted as a fertilizer expert (agroenvironment) and inspector/investigator for the Ordre des agronomes du Québec.
The original founder and President of the Integrated Wind Power Management
Corporation (CGIRE), a non-profit recognized as a pioneer in bringing wind
power to the attention of Quebeckers. Louis has also been an instructor at the
University of Québec at Rimouski.
Louis knows the territory of his riding very well because, since 1992, he has
been President and general manager of TERRE-EAU Inc., an advisory group for the
evaluation and promotion of renewable resources. As well, he advises close to
100 agricultural companies, and some industries and municipalities, on a
variety of issues.
Louis Drainville was born in the Lac St-Pierre islands, in the Lanaudière
region of Québec. Since 1990, he has lived in St-Joseph-de-Lepage in La Mitis.
He has worked in a dozen administrative regions of Québec and Manitoba and has
traveled to 7 of Canada's provinces as well as overseas.
His passions are gardening, writing, cross-country skiing, and forestry. The
experiences and challenges he has been through fit well with his philosphy, to
find meaning from leaping into the unknown.
"Regular contact with economic, social, and environmental stakeholders has
so far offered me a unique place from which to analyze different development
models. Combined with strong scientific understanding, an engaged personal
life, and a limitless passion for the fundamental questions of society, I
estimate that this gives me the skills needed to be a Green Member of
Parliament, to the benefit of all my constituents."
Louis Drainville is the nominated candidate for the Green Party of Canada in
the riding of Haute-Gaspésie - La Mitis - Matane – Matapédia.
