Haldimand - Norfolk
Anne Faulkner is an environmentalist, teacher, artist and political activist. When Anne is confronted by injustice, she works hard to achieve change so that others will not have to fight the same battles over and over again for equity, safety and fairness.
Anne prides herself on being green. Her lifestyle was featured in “Going Green: How Norfolk is working and living toward making a better environment”, a special supplement to the Times-Reformer June 24, 2008. She heats her home with geothermal energy and is energy efficient because it is fiscally and environmentally smart to do so. Her objective is to create ‘No Waste’ and to get ‘Off the grid’.
Anne taught from 1969 until 2002. During those years, she completed her BA, BEd, and MEd. She served actively in elected positions at the school level for 33 years and at the local and provincial levels for over 20 years, representing teachers and educational workers in York Region.
Anne’s energy and passion have paid off. She has successfully worked to support girls in math and science courses, anti-racism in the schools, workers’ rights in her community, literacy in Georgina, and better donor-control at blood banks.
Anne has been politically active since the 1960s, and she has been green for longer than that. This year she has moved from supporting her local Green Party candidate, to being the local Green Party candidate.
Family is important to Anne and her spouse Keith. They have four wonderful children, and four adorable grandchildren. Anne’s sister, Carmel, and her many friends are ready, willing, and waiting to help elect Anne to be the first Haldimand Norfolk, Green MP. They believe Anne will win because she has a proven record of hard work for the right reasons and because people are ready for the change the Green Party offers.
Anne Faulkner is the Green Party of Canada's nominated candidate for Haldimand - Norfolk.
