Stephen Brotherston

Stephen Brotherston, a geological engineering graduate, has lived in Hamilton since 1981, earning an MBA from McMaster University and a Chartered Business Valuators designation. Soon after moving to Hamilton, Stephen married Lucy Petruccelli, a Hamilton high school teacher and long time Hamilton resident.

Stephen’s business experience began with work for local accounting firms as a senior consultant and with financial institutions as a business loans officer. Later, Stephen joined the family business manufacturing specialty chairs for the disabled and elderly. Under the direction of Stephen and his brothers, the business successfully expanded sales across North America and overseas. More recently, Stephen was the COO and CFO of a mid-sized auto parts plant and briefly returned to consulting before retiring about 5 years ago.

Stephen’s local volunteer experience includes organizing past events as a Chair of committees of The Hamilton and District Chamber of Commerce, and he is currently a citizen representative on Hamilton’s Clean Air committee and represents Clean Air at Re-Leaf meetings.

Last year, Stephen joined the Green Party and helped to found the Hamilton Mountain Federal Green Party Association. He then ran as a candidate for the Green Party in the 2008 federal election. In that election, Stephen’s campaign nearly doubled the Green Party vote in Hamilton Mountain, and was part of a great showing for the Party in the Hamilton area.

Stephen believes that the move towards a greener economy represents our best opportunity to bring high paying manufacturing jobs back to Canada and Hamilton in particular. Only the Green Party offers the combination that best reflects Canadian values and standards: a solid fiscal approach, sensible environmental policies, and a compassionate social platform. The Green Party is Canada’s obvious best choice for today – and for tomorrow.

Stephen Brotherston is the Green Party of Canada's nominated candidate for Hamilton Mountain.
