Mississauga East - Cooksville
Jaymini Bhikha was born and raised in Mississauga East-Cooksville. Jaymini graduated from the University of Toronto at Mississauga with an Honours Bachelors of Arts, specializing in Environmental Management and minoring in History and Sociology.
Upon graduation, she worked in Ottawa as a campaign intern at the national office of the Sierra Club of Canada, handling such files as the Species at Risk Act and the development of a green car website. Once the internship was completed, she continued on at Sierra Club as an Administrative and Campaigns Assistant, where she worked on many different projects, including researching and writing sections of the Kyoto Report Card, an annual publication. When Jaymini moved back to Mississauga, she worked in Toronto at a non-profit organization, which focuses on supporting and promoting local sustainable foods.
Jaymini currently works at the Green Party of Ontario as the Director of the Leader’s office.
Jaymini has volunteered with various organizations in the past, including the National Gallery Teen Council, where she helped plan and develop an event which would educate teens about environmental issues, and inform them about the steps they can take to help solve the problem. She has also volunteered for the Green Team at the Ottawa Bluesfest, the Association for Canadian Environmental Resources, and is currently an active volunteer with the Sierra Club of Canada's Peel Region Group participating on the Executive Council.
Jaymini is also very active within the Green Party. She ran as a federal candidate in the 2008 election, and is active in her local Electoral District Association on the Executive Committee to promote and build the Party. Provincially, she served as the Female Representative for the Horseshoe Region on the Provincial Executive of the Green Party of Ontario.
Jaymini Bhikha is the nominated candidate for the Green Party of Canada in the riding of Mississauga East - Cooksville.
