Chris Hill

Chris Hill is one of Canada’s leaders in creating cleaner, fuel-efficient vehicle fleets through the implementation of Green Fleet Plans. A lifetime achievement award was given to him in 2009 by Fleet Challenge Ontario in recognition of his pioneering work in developing Green Fleet Plans for the cities of Toronto and Hamilton. These fleets lead in the use of hybrid vehicles, biodiesel and other alternative fuels, and act as strong advocates for electric and fuel-cell vehicles.

Chris has lived in Mississauga-Streetsville for 23 years with his wife and two sons. Being a candidate for the Green Party of Canada is a natural fit for his work achievements and interests. As fleet manager for the Public Works Department in the City of Hamilton, he has helped many municipalities and agencies including Mississauga begin greening their fleets. The benefits of green fleets go beyond cleaner air and lower fuel consumption. They send a strong message to the automotive industry that the demand for clean technology is substantial and that it is growing.

Chris believes that climate change and “peak oil” have combined to create a compelling need to end the use of oil as a fuel for transportation as soon as possible. “The automotive industry is listening,” he says. “Hybrids are becoming mainstream and electric vehicles will be practical and plentiful soon.”

Chris has an MBA from the University of Toronto and his private sector business experience and public service work is the right combination to represent the people of Mississauga-Streetsville in Parliament.

Chris Hill is the nominated candidate for the Green Party of Canada in the riding of Mississauga-Streetsville.
