Norbert Koehl

Norbert, 42, is the general manager of a successful Toronto-based, organic bakery specializing in all natural and nutritional breads for the Canadian and international markets. In addition to its other contributions to the community, the bakery supports organic farming and non-GMO products.

Norbert ran a strong campaign as the GPC candidate in Thornhill in 2008 which saw the Green Party increased the votes received by 39% over the previous election. Norbert has been an active member of the Green Party for 5 years and has served the Thornhill Greens as Financial Agent, Official Agent, and CEO.

Norbert is an active member of the Thornhill community, where he has lived for the past 10 year. He has served on the St. Anthony School Council for 7 years – as co-chair and treasurer. Norbert has also coached Thornhill soccer teams for the past 5 years.

Norbert is fluent in English and German with a good understanding of French. He has previously worked and lived in Hong Kong, Germany, and France. He has an Honours BA in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario and also studied for two years at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg, Germany.

Norbert has been married to his wife Gisela for fifteen years. The couple has five boys, all under the age of eleven. Norbert grew up as the fifth child of a family of seven in Windsor, Ontario. He is also an avid cyclist and triathlete and enjoys hiking and spending time in the outdoors.

Norbert Koehl is the nominated candidate for the Green Party of Canada in the riding of Thornhill.
