Rebecca Harrison

Rebecca Harrison is dedicated to positive change for a better tomorrow in her home of Whitby-Oshawa. From social justice to green jobs and fiscal responsibility, she feels that the Green Party of Canada can lead this country towards a brighter future.

Rebecca was born and raised in the rural municipality of the Township of Norwich in South-Western Ontario just east of London. Her father was a successful municipal politician for the better part of 20 years, all the while holding down a full time job as an auto mechanic. Her mother was a dedicated public servant who devoted her free time to supporting environmental and animal welfare non-governmental organizations. Rebecca credits her ambitious and humble approach to politics to their guidance early in her life.

Rebecca and her husband Chris purchased their home in north Whitby just over two years ago. Rebecca is a full time organizer for Green Party of Canada in South Western Ontario. She is dedicated to helping other candidates and riding associations develop and grow to better serve their regions.

Due to her extensive volunteer experience ranging from working crisis lines to food banks, Rebecca has a keen interest in the development of the Green Party’s poverty elimination platform. Her experience has taught her that the greatest threat to the human rights is poverty, for that reason she is committed to finding a better way to live together within our country and our larger global village.

As a long time sufferer of epilepsy, Rebecca has depended on public transit for most of her life. From her own experience she understands the vital link between mobility and a person’s quality of life. She has become a vocal proponent for a better public transit system as a result.  Rebecca is also determined to increase constituent input and community development in Whitby-Oshawa.

Rebecca Harrison is the nominated candidate for the Green Party of Canada in the riding of Whitby-Oshawa.
