Sheila G. Richardson is a member of the following Boards: Peaceworks, Canadian Representative 2009, Prevent Cancer Now, 2008-2009, Breast Cancer Action Nova Scotia, 2007-present. She is a student at Acadia Divinity College in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. As owner/operator of Rainbow Stitches, she makes clothing for men, women, children and babies in cotton and hemp, silk and hemp, linen. As a landlady, she boards up to five international students from Acadia University and teaches English as a Second Language to them.
Sheila’s involvement in the Green Party started in 2004 when she became the Nova Scotia Organizer for the Green Party of Canada. Since that time, she has served in the following capacities: federal councilor, 2004-2006; Nova Scotia representative to Council, 2009 to present; Shadow Cabinet, 2004-2006; and CEO for Kings Hants federal riding, 2007 to present. She was the Green Party candidate in North Nova in 2004 and in Kings Hants in 2006. For the Green Party of Nova Scotia, she has served as Policy Convenor, 2009 and Co-Chair of AGM, 2009; candidate in Clayton Park in 2006; and candidate in Hants West in 2009.
In 1971, Sheila obtained a B.Sc. Geography, New University Ulster, N. Ireland. She worked as a teacher and taught for nine years in England and Northern Ireland, culminating in Head of Geography for a large comprehensive school, in Oxford, England. In 1994, she obtained a Masters in Education from Dalhousie University and has taught several adult programs. She has worked with seniors, with mentally and physically challenged adults, with homeless women and children, and with children with difficulties.
Sheila has two grown children that live and work in Halifax. She has been on a journey of forgiveness and compassion, and a journey of cancer.
