Gatineau
Jonathan Meijer was born in Ottawa in 1982. He spent his youth in that city, during which he went to primary and secondary school in the French language public system, followed by university, before moving to Gatineau in 2004.
A fan of many subjects including computers, music and history, Jonathan has always been at the top of his class.
Jonathan obtained his Bachelor in Applied Sciences, Computer Engineering, at the University of Ottawa in 2004 and has been working as a software developer since. In 2007, he joined a company that operates in the health business.
During the last few years, Jonathan first joined the Group for the Protection of the Bird Sanctuary on Kettle Island, aiming to prevent a new bridge between Gatineau and Ottawa from being built in that sensitive zone, in favour of the option near the Boulevard de l'Aeroport. He also joined the Group for the Protection of the Mature Trees in the Lac Beauchamp Park, aiming to prevent the city of Gatineau from felling trees with the sole purpose of keeping its status of logger.
Jonathan is also member of the Coalition Train Leger Outaouais, with the aim of replacing the planned Rapibus with a light-rail train on the existing rail line. He demonstrates his dedication to public transit by taking the bus to work every day.
Jonathan has been married to his husband since 2004.
Jonathan Meijer is the nominated candidate for the Green Party of Canada for the riding of Gatineau.
