John Bithell is a Team Leader at a leading automotive parts manufacturer. John has studied Macro Economics and Anthropology at the University of Guelph, Human Resource Management at Algonquin College, and has taken many courses on Leadership Skills. After long consideration of how to affect the change that is necessary in our governments politics John joined the Green Party of Canada and assumed the role of Acting Communication Chair in April of 2007. In July of the same year John officially joined the Executive as Communications Chair for the Kitchener-Centre EDA. John is also a member of the Green Party of Ontario, and was co-campaign manager for the 2006 Daniel Logan Campaign. Most recently John was the Kitchener Centre candidate in the 40th General Election where he successfully increased the percentage of popular vote by 2.9%.
Aside from his work with the Green Party, John stays involved in the community through volunteering. John has been involved with the Food Bank of Waterloo Region since 2005 doing everything from sorting food in the warehouse, to organizing bag hand-outs with local grocery store managers, to being a founding member of the Speakers Bureau. The Speakers Bureau gives John the chance to go out into the community on a regular basis and speak to diverse groups such as schools, local businesses, and community organizations, and deliver the message of the Food Bank of Waterloo Region. John is articulate and charismatic and an effective speaker. Some other organizations that have benefited from John’s help are the K-W Friendship Group for Seniors and Active Vision, a local charity that supplies books to schools in Guyana. John rarely passes up an opportunity to offer assistance to any group in need, and seeks to lead by example in the role of a citizen.
