Green Party leader praises Bill Casey's courage

Decision to vote against budget is admirable. OTTAWA – Green Party leader and Central Nova candidate Elizabeth May today praised MP Bill Casey (Cumberland – Colchester) for his courage and integrity. Mr. Casey was ousted from the Conservative caucus last night after voting against the budget. “I have always admired Bill. He is a man of real integrity who puts the needs and concerns of his constituents first. His decision to vote against the Harper budget due to its betrayal of Canada’s commitments to the Atlantic Accord is entirely admirable,” said Ms. May. “The question Nova Scotians must now ask is how Peter MacKay and Gerald Keddy could vote for this budget.” Ms. May has long known Mr. Casey and admired his work on behalf of Nova Scotia, his long-standing involvement in Middle East peace and reconciliation and his principled approach to politics.
