New Westminster - Coquitlam
Rebecca Helps is a long time active resident of Port Moody, having lived there for almost 30 years. Rebecca helped to implement the first classroom recycling program at Port Moody Junior High. She was a Girl Guide leader for many years and enjoyed passing on her sense of community spirit to the next generation. Rebecca has also enjoyed organizing many community events such as the 30 Hour Famine, and the Best of Banff Film Festival.
Rebecca graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2001 with a bachelor's of Business Administration. After graduation Rebecca went to work for the Yellow Pages Group. While working there, Rebecca had the opportunity to move to Montreal. Rebecca greatly enjoyed time in Montreal and truly appreciated the opportunity to live in another part of Canada and get a perspective of Canada that is from outside of BC. The ultimate highlight of that year for Rebecca was going to Ottawa for Canada Day: she feels it is an experience every Canadian should have at least once.
On a personal note, Rebecca's passion is the outdoors. She has been an active hiker and camper since she was in Girl Guides. You can often find Rebecca hiking around Buntzen Lake or walking her dog at Rocky Point Park. Currently, Rebecca continues to explore the outdoors with the Alpine Club of Canada where she is an active volunteer.
Finally, Rebecca is an experienced relationship manager. She enjoys working with individuals and organizations to find solutions that make sense and fulfill everyone's needs. If elected as the MP for New Westminster-Coquitlam she would use her skills to help her constituents and ensure their voice is heard. Rebecca looks forward to talking with voters to find out what they need.
Rebecca Helps is the Green Party of Canada's nominated candidate for New Westminster-Coquitlam.
