Value of membership

When you are approaching people about becoming a member, or renewing their membership, don’t forget the many valuable benefits of being a GPC member. Members are entitled to: 

• participate in our grassroots policy-development process: you or any member can put forward resolutions to the rest of the membership that will become policy with their approval. Visit our Policy Lab to find out how to workshop, and put forward, an idea you have.
• vote in Leadership contests and Federal Council elections, and join committees of Federal Council.
• vote in nomination contests in your EDA to select your candidate.
• join the executive of your EDA and help direct its work in outreach, campaigning, fundraising, and event-planning.
• access campaign materials, current discussions, and party documents through the GPC website.

Membership can also benefit you by putting you in contact with other Greens in your community.

• get invited to special events;
• meet people who share your interests in politics, the environment, and community issues;
• brainstorm together to help us push Canadian politics towards the goals we share;
• help get Greens together in regional and provincial networks.

 Your membership also benefits your EDA directly. The Green Party of Canada shares its per-vote subsidy (according to the Elections Act) with EDAs. Your membership is worth about $17 to your local EDA, as well as being $10 that goes to the national office to support the national campaign to elect Green MPs.
