Wow!
I just got back from the Green Living Show in Toronto where I saw Al Gore and many others speak but I have to say the speech that will stay with me the longest was Elizabeth May's speech during the politician's presentation part of the evening. She shared the stage with Jack layton who did his typical 'happy Jack' routine. Elizabeth then came out and spoke with such emotion and sincerity and passion that she got two standing ovations. She was very upset about the minority Conservative government's anti-Kyoto stance and she let it be known in no uncertain terms. Her voice breaking and rising to a shout, she demonstrated true passion like I have never seen in a political speech before. It was the 'gloves off' Elizabeth that I had wanted to see for awhile. She even apologised for getting so emotional but she said that Harper had brought out the maternal instincts in her and that she felt like a Mama grizzly protecting her cubs. Someone from the audience said 'Don't apologise", and another person stood up and said 'What you showed us is what we need'. Such moving political drama. What a sincere and powerful speech! When the Stephane Dion video came on screen my friend and I just went home, we had seen the best that a politician could ever deliver. We, as a political party, are being guided by a truly motivating and passionate person. We are very lucky to have this lady as our leader.

video of the event?
Hi Joel, i wish i could have been there, sounds like a truly moving event. A few questions...do you think there was a video made of the speakers? And what was jack's reaction to the standing ovations Elizabeth received? Was he grim and dour or did he just sit there and sulk?
The Voice of Love
Elizabeth is certainly an incredible public speaker. In Ottawa on Earth Day she was just getting wound up when time ran out. Our Leader does indeed speak with an fabulous passion that deeply moves everyone who is listening. Her sincerity and love shines through for all to experience and be captivated by. Logic and rationality are important, but only go so far. What is needed from a great Leader and spokesperson is also the strong ability to appeal to people's emotions. Elizabeth really tugs at your heart strings when you hear her speaking. She is quite remarkable. It will not be long before the entire nation of Canada falls in love with her. And it will not be long after that before Canadians ask her to move to 24 Sussex!
Elizabeth May be Superwoman in disguise.
Wow is right Joel
I was there as well and she blew everyone out of the water. Jack Layton was flat and typical politician, stump speech delivery. He seemed to be searching for things to say at times and trying to cram in his "don't let anyone tell you it can't be done" YOU TUBE thing. He kept trying to work it in. There was not any real time for questions which I thought was poor planning.
Elizabeth came out and spoke with a tremendous passion that filled the room. It was what everyone there was waiting for a politician to say and she delivered. Dion came on and although he knew what he was talking about he came off as flat and uninspiring after Elizabeth's speech.
Now if she will keep talking that way and show it publicly on a continuing basis we will definately elect MPs in the next election. We need to build on her passion and get our faces out there. I'm not just talking about candidates, I'm talking about everyone. Her non-partisan plea of Saturday night should be the rallying cry for all Canadians.
I was genuinely excited and moved on Saturday night.
Thank you Elizabeth.
