December 12th - Anniversary of 1st nuclear reactor meltdown

Today is the anniversary of the first recorded nuclear reactor meltdown. It happened in 1952 at the Chalk River facility. The reactor involved is now shut down, but it is food for thought in the debates raging at the moment about whether to force the re-opening of a reactor shut down for safety reasons.
