Greens in Vancouver Pride Parade
VANCOUVER -- Green Leader Elizabeth May and her two Deputy Leaders, Adriane Carr and Georges Laraque, are proud to march in Vancouver’s Pride Parade, celebrating the diverse culture of Canada’s lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBT) communities.
"I have such pride in our inclusive Canadian society, pride that we can celebrate our diversity and be accepting of each other. This is a wonderful community and it is a privilege to march in this parade," said May.
"With this year’s theme of liberation, we are reminding people that we also have great political diversity in this country and it is more important than ever to make sure your voice is heard by liberating your vote at the ballot box," said Deputy Leader Carr.
The Green Party of Canada was the first federal party to officially support the inclusion of same-sex couples in civil marriage. Green Party policies include strong support for ending discrimination based on race, creed, ethnic background, political beliefs or sexual orientation.
"Everyone has the right to live their life without discrimination, without fear, and with joy and acceptance. Greens continue to work for a world where differences in sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression are accepted and celebrated," said the Greens newest Deputy Leader, NHL star Georges Laraque.
