Two former Prime Ministers now support Elizabeth May’s inclusion

OTTAWA – The Right Honourable Paul Martin has joined the Right Honourable Joe Clark in publicly calling for Elizabeth May to be included in the national leader’s debate.

In an interview with the Toronto Star, Mr. Martin stated, “Canadians are entitled to points of view of all of the valid players and Elizabeth May and the Green Party are certainly valid participants.”

Martin went on to say, ““In terms of the popular vote, the Green Party has demonstrated that there is a strong group of Canadians who are prepared to support that party.”

“Paul Martin, Joe Clark, Judy Rebick. CBC Ombudsman Kirk LaPointe, Jean-Pierre Kingsley - former head of Elections Canada, the YWCA, Margaret Atwood, Elly Albiom, Tom Axworthy, Democracy Watch, Raffi, Ronald Wright: the list of prominent Canadian voices speaking out is growing daily. Add that to the over 28,000 Canadians who have signed the petition at DemandDemocraticDebates.ca, over 35, 000 who voted on a CBC.ca online poll, and thousands who have flooded the broadcaster’s email inboxes and phone lines,” said Elizabeth May. “How much longer are five media executives going to insist their opinion counts more than a majority of the Canadian public?”
