Great time in Guelph

I went down to Guelph Monday with a couple other volunteers from Barrie. (I left one of them there - we'll send someone for you Friday, Larry!)

We all had a great time helping Mike. I've canvassed in many a general or by-election, and let me tell you this was the most positive response I've ever had. Canvassing is always a fairly positive experience, a chance to get some fresh air & exercise and see what a new neighbourhood looks like, but Guelph really is something else - the greenest little city I've ever toured, in both the political and lifestyle meaning. I highly advise anyone from any riding that can get there to put some bodies in a car (or bus or whatever) and make your way. (If you're in the GTA, you could even take an afternoon GO bus to Guelph, canvass for the evening, stay over at their volunteer house, then take the early bus back in time for your daytime activity in the city.)

Every EDA in range should organize some volunteers to go. Pay their travel costs - it's money well-spent considering the training & experience they'll get - which they can pass on to others in your riding in the general election. Plus, if our help gets Mike elected, it guarantees Elizabeth in the debates - which will double your local vote, guaranteeing you the 60% rebate. That will far exceed the cost of gas or bus tickets.

If you're too far to visit, get on the phone system and make some calls. Again, the training value to your volunteers (and chance to get Mike his seat) is worth covering the long distance costs.
