Idle No More Rally in Ottawa

Elizabeth May

Dear supporter,

Join us for the Idle No More rally this Friday in Ottawa. Idle No More is a First Nations grassroots movement created in reaction to Harper's C-45 Omnibus Bill and its attack on navigable waters. It protests against the lack of respect for First Nations' rights.

Our C-45 amendments on the Navigable Waters Protection Act would have ensured the on-going protection of rights to navigation for Aboriginal people, and all Canadians, on all water bodies in Canada, and not just 62 rivers and 97 lakes. The government defeated all the amendments we put forward.

The event will start at noon on Victoria Island with a Traditional Ceremony. Following the ceremony at 1:30pm, a March will begin to Parliament Hill. After speeches, presentations and entertainers, a feast will be offered at 5 p.m. at the Odawa Native Friendship Centre. More details about the event at Idle No More–Ottawa's Facebook page

Sincerely,
Elizabeth May
