Off to the races ...

Elizabeth May

I had a great weekend. My nephew married to the beautiful young woman who has been his girlfriend since university days. Her family is form Ottawa, and they both live here now so the wedding was here. My brother, whom I adore but who has never visited me in Ottawa, left Nova Scotia with his wife for the first time since 1982.

After church and a longish lunch out on Sunday I got home to a phone message from Canwest news. The message said that Prime Minister Harper had just called the by-election for November 27th for London Centre North and Repentigny. I phoned back and confirmed I would run in London North Centre. By 6 PM it was the lead story on national CBC news. My daughter asked "Mummy, when do you leave?"

Soon.

The nomination meeting is Thursday night October 26th. In case you are near London please join us at 7 PM at the Elephant and Castle at
355 Wellington Street. I want to knock on every door in London North Centre, but there is not much time. I will be asking the voters of London North Centre to make history and elect the leader of the Green Party of Canada to represent their concerns for the planet, for survival and for the health and sustainability of their communities. I am looking forward to a real test of my vision for enhancing democracy -- speaking the truth, unscripted and without spin. I want to find a way to inspire people to believe in the democratic process. To vote for a better world.

We'll see if it works.
