OTTAWA -- The Leader of the Green Party of Canada, Elizabeth May (MP, Saanich-Gulf Islands) will join renowned Quebec author and stage director, Dominic Champagne to sign the Ecological Transition Pact.
Mr. Champagne instigated the Pact in November 2018 urging citizens to join him in petitioning the Quebec Government to take urgent action on climate change. To date over 260,000 Quebecers have signed the Pact.
“We’re inspired by the leadership of Quebecers. Acting now on climate change is a top priority for the Green Party of Canada and we are optimistic that Mr. Legault and the Coalition Avenir Quebec will heed the voices of their citizens,” said Ms May.
“The success of the PACT is proof that Quebec is in the forefront of climate action in the country. It is also proof that it is the people leading here by pushing our governments to prevent a climate catastrophe,” said Daniel Green, Deputy Leader of the Green Party and candidate in the current Outremont by-election.
