Demand an emergency committee on the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls report.
Last June, the official Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) released its report, revealing the tragic extent of the ongoing atrocity, with 231 calls to justice. These calls include funding for transit, funding to community organizations and more.
Now, Elizabeth May is calling for a committee to be established immediately so Canada can start to implement the report’s calls for justice. Indigenous leaders have shown us what needs to be done. It’s time for the government to take action.
During the election campaign, Justin Trudeau pledged to review the report, promising the families of victims that he “would no longer fail them.” The list of demands on the new government is growing so we need to make sure the Prime Minister makes this critical issue a top priority. Will you send a message to Trudeau?
