The Reality of the Enbridge Pipeline: A Discussion on Salt Spring Island

Event Description

The Salt Spring No Pipeline Coalition is hosting Elizabeth May, Member of Parliament for Saanich-Gulf Islands and Leader of the Green Party of Canada, and Captain Brian Falconer from the Raincoast Conservation Foundation, for a lively discussion about proposed oilsands pipelines and Northern Gateway oil tanker route.

When: Saturday April 14, from 4-7 PM
Where: Meaden Hall, Salt Spring Island

Brian Falconer is a licensed maritime captain who has logged tens of thousands of hours operating commercial vessels on the BC and Alaskan coasts. He is also the Coordinator of Marine Operations for Raincoast Conservation Foundation, a science-based conservation organization with an office in Sidney and research facilities in Bella Bella. Brian will show an informative slideshow that focuses on Enbridge's presentation of the risks, and how their selective omissions and consistent misrepresentations allow them to put forward unrealistic claims about the safety of their operations.
