OTTAWA-- The Leader of the Green Party of Canada, Elizabeth May, (MP, Saanich- Gulf Islands), released the following statement on the occasion of Yom Kippur:
“Today’s sunset marks the beginning of Yom Kippur, one of the holiest days in the Jewish calendar.
“Yom Kippur is a time for reflection and prayer, for repentance and forgiveness. From the Kol Nidrei service this evening until the Neilah prayers tomorrow night, Jewish friends and families in Canada and around the world take to fasting and to focusing their minds and hearts on the year that has passed and their hopes for the year before them.
"On behalf of the Green Party of Canada, I wish everyone observing Yom Kippur a meaningful fast. Tzom kal and G’mar Chatima Tova.”
