Green Party of Canada Welcomes Two New Shadow Cabinet Critics

OTTAWA - The Green Party of Canada is excited to announce the addition of two outstanding individuals to our Shadow Cabinet. Arvin Singh Dang will take on the role of Foreign Affairs Critic, and Gadfly Stratton will serve as Fisheries Critic. Both bring exceptional experience, knowledge, and passion to these critical portfolios.

Arvin Singh – New Foreign Affairs Critic
Arvin Singh's international perspective and diverse professional background make him an excellent addition to the Green Party team. Having lived in Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, the UK, Germany, India, Nepal, and Canada, Arvin brings a truly global lens to his role as Foreign Affairs Critic.

His career began in finance in London, spans education, fundraising, and communications in India, and presently supports movement building for a sustainable and just future here in Canada. A champion for bold systems change, Arvin has led Himalayan expeditions and a volunteer wildland firefighting team, is representing a class action lawsuit against the RCMP, and taught the Climate Action Leadership Diploma at Pearson College UWC.

“Arvin’s depth of knowledge, combined with his dedication to building equitable and sustainable communities, will bring a fresh perspective to foreign policy,” said Green Party Leader Elizabeth May. “We are thrilled to welcome him to the Shadow Cabinet as we continue advocating for a just and peaceful world.”

Gadfly Stratton – New Fisheries Critic
Gadfly Stratton is an environmental scientist and social justice advocate with a focus on aquatic ecosystems. His research on invasive and at-risk fish species has shaped policy and fostered local environmental stewardship. A sought-after speaker, Gadfly has presented internationally on equity, diversity, and inclusion, as well as environmental policy.

Gadfly lives in Halifax with his partner and two dogs, where they enjoy Nova Scotia’s natural beauty. He is committed to promoting education, social justice, and strong environmental protections as the foundation for thriving communities.

“Gadfly’s expertise and passion for both environmental science and equity make him uniquely qualified to address the pressing challenges in fisheries and aquatic ecosystems,” said Elizabeth May. “We are confident that his leadership will amplify the Green Party’s commitment to protecting our oceans and waterways while advocating for sustainable fisheries.”

The Green Party of Canada remains dedicated to building a Shadow Cabinet that reflects the diversity, expertise, and dedication needed to address the challenges of today and tomorrow.
