My name is Bruno Sousa, and I’m proud to be the Green Party of Canada candidate for Oakville East in the upcoming federal election. I’m running because I believe in putting people and the planet first—through inclusive leadership, environmental action, and a real commitment to meaningful political change.

Oakville has been my home since 1987, when I immigrated here from the Azores as a young child. Since then, I’ve built deep roots in this community and dedicated much of my life to its growth and well-being. I’m an entrepreneur with a diverse portfolio of ventures, including a technology and business consulting agency, a creative arts collective, a B2B marketplace, and other grassroots organizations. My professional journey has focused on helping businesses and communities thrive—especially by embracing innovation, sustainability, and ethical use of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and automation.

Since March 2024, I’ve proudly served as Chair of the Constitutional Renewal Commission (CRC) for the Green Party of Canada. In this national leadership role, I’ve worked to modernize and strengthen internal governance, transparency, and democratic participation across our party. I’ve also contributed to key policy efforts, including sustainable technology frameworks and electoral reform. Locally, I’ve played a vital role in environmental and community advocacy through initiatives such as Stop the Sprawl, Hands Off the Greenbelt, and Stop Highway 413.

Volunteerism is central to who I am. I first volunteered in a political campaign when I was 16. In 2015 I began volunteering as a parent and quickly became deeply involved in Scouts Canada. Today, I proudly serve as the Contact Scouter for the 1st Trafalgar Scouts, mentoring youth in leadership, outdoor skills, and community service. I’ve also served as a director with the Oakville Gymnastics Club and volunteered with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 114, Oakville Girls Softball Association, and several local school councils.

If elected, I will work to foster innovation in economic development—helping Oakville embrace emerging industries, renewable energy, and sustainable infrastructure. I’ll prioritize people’s well-being by supporting inclusive policies, accessible services, and strong local representation. I believe Oakville East can be a national leader in balancing economic resilience with environmental stewardship.

I’m running to be a voice for those who feel left out of our current system, and to help build a greener, fairer, and more vibrant future for our community and country. I hope to earn your trust and your vote.

What It Means
To Vote Green

  • It means putting communities first. Green MPs have the freedom to vote based on local priorities, not party politics. We stand firmly for Canadian communities and values against all threats.

  • It means fighting for economic fairness. Our plan provides cost-of-living relief for working Canadians while protecting jobs and businesses from economic disruptions.

  • It means building lasting prosperity. Our climate strategy creates good jobs and strong communities that can weather future challenges. We plan for generations, not election cycles.
