Chris Kowalchuk – A Dedicated Community Leader
Chris Kowalchuk is a long-time resident of Oakville, deeply engaged in building, maintaining, and nurturing his community. For over 35 years, he has been an active and vocal advocate for the residents of Ward 2, bringing his leadership, passion, and commitment to public service to everything he does.

Chris is well-known for his easy smile, infectious laugh, and genuine nature—qualities that have earned him the respect and friendship of many in Oakville. His strong leadership skills and sense of humor have made a lasting impact, and his dedication to his community is evident in both his volunteer work and professional contributions.

A graduate of T.A. Blakelock High School, Chris has an in-depth understanding of Ward 2’s residential and commercial interests, as well as the challenges the community faces. His experience and background make him a strong advocate for ensuring residents’ voices are heard at Town Hall.

A History of Community Involvement
Chris has a long-standing commitment to social causes. For over 10 years, he has actively supported Halton Women’s Place, raising funds through the annual Super Bowl Sunday Polar Bear Swim. He has also played a significant role in shaping Oakville’s development, serving as a past president and board member of the West River Residents’ Association (WRRA). His contributions include:

Re-establishing Forster Park outdoor rinks
Contributing to the Town’s Kerr Street Plan
Helping build the WRRA Memorial Garden and the Barry Dawe Volunteer Memorial Inukshuk
Successfully lobbying to preserve the Oakville Arena

Chris has also been a dedicated supporter of local initiatives such as the Ian Anderson House, the Oakville Santa Claus Parade, and more recently, SwimForMentalHealth.com.

A Passion for Public Service and Green Advocacy
Chris has been involved in politics and advocacy for decades. As an original member of both the Ontario and Federal Green Party, he ran as a candidate in Oakville’s 1984 federal election as well as the 1985 and 1987 provincial elections. His platform focused on:

Electoral reform
Creating and sustaining a green economy
Protecting Oakville’s green spaces

His belief in grassroots action and local impact is best summarized in his own words:

“In today’s world, we need to think globally. However, the place you can have the most impact is in your own neighborhood.”

A Strong Background in Business
Beyond his community work, Chris has over 25 years of experience in the Ontario wine, spirits, and beer industry. He played a key role in growing brands such as Hillebrand Estates Winery and Lakeport Brewery and operated a wine shop in downtown Oakville from 1986 to 1990. His business acumen and understanding of local economies make him a strong advocate for small businesses and sustainable economic growth.

Family and Personal Life
Chris is a proud father of two daughters, aged 20 and 22. His passion for putting others before himself has been the driving force behind his lifelong commitment to Oakville. Whether through his volunteer work, advocacy, or business experience, Chris Kowalchuk has always put his community first—and he is ready to continue doing so.

What It Means
To Vote Green

  • It means putting communities first. Green MPs have the freedom to vote based on local priorities, not party politics. We stand firmly for Canadian communities and values against all threats.

  • It means fighting for economic fairness. Our plan provides cost-of-living relief for working Canadians while protecting jobs and businesses from economic disruptions.

  • It means building lasting prosperity. Our climate strategy creates good jobs and strong communities that can weather future challenges. We plan for generations, not election cycles.
