Rooted in Community, Committed to Service
Dave’s story reflects the journey of many in Vaudreuil. His roots run deep, tracing back to his Dutch grandparents who immigrated to Quebec after World War II, determined to give back to the country that had helped liberate their homeland. Raised by a single mother with the support of his grandparents, Dave grew up across Vaudreuil-Soulanges, learning the values of hard work, civic duty, and standing up for what’s right.

A Career in Public Safety & Advocacy
In 2000, Dave left Vaudreuil to pursue a career in public safety in the U.S., where he became a veteran emergency services dispatcher. For nearly 20 years, he has been the calm voice people hear in their most desperate moments, reinforcing his belief that when problems arise, you take action.

While abroad, he became a passionate advocate for environmental issues—organizing clean-ups, championing sustainable policies, and working with legislators at all levels of government. His leadership as a progressive Democrat further strengthened his ability to mobilize communities and drive change.

Fighting for Vaudreuil’s Future
Now, Dave is returning home, ready to serve the community that raised him. His key priorities include:

Expanding Sustainable Transit – Advocating for the REM extension to Vaudreuil to address decades of transit challenges.
Defending Minority Rights – Standing for inclusivity and equity across Canada.
Fixing Our Electoral System – Fighting to replace First-Past-the-Post with a truly representative system.

With nearly 20 years in emergency services and extensive experience in environmental and political activism, Dave is uniquely equipped to tackle today’s biggest challenges: public safety and the climate crisis. As the Green Party’s Critic for Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, he is ready to bring bold leadership to Parliament.

Stopping Yet Another Dangerous Pipeline
Dave is sounding the alarm on the federal and provincial governments’ reconsideration of a rejected pipeline project that would transport diluted bitumen through Vaudreuil-Soulanges. The risks of a pipeline disaster fall on communities like ours. Instead of doubling down on fossil fuels, Dave advocates for clean energy investments that create jobs while protecting our environment.

A Candidate Who Will Fight for You
Now, more than ever, we need leaders who won’t back down—leaders with the experience, skills, and passion to fight for our future.

Dave isn’t running to be another voice lost in the political noise. He’s running to deliver real, tangible results for Vaudreuil—to make our communities safer, our environment cleaner, and our democracy stronger.

If you believe in bold, principled leadership, Dave Hamelin-Schuilenburg is your candidate.
