Prashanta Dhakal: A Champion for a Stable Society | dhakal.ca
With a degree in Computer Science from University of Waterloo and a passion for systems design, Prashanta brings a unique analytical approach to politics. His ideas stem from a perspective that views society as an interconnected system in need of balance and stability like any system of human creation.

A graduate of Sir Robert Borden HS, Prashanta grew up in this community and spent all his working life in Ottawa’s high-tech sector. He has a four-year-old son and a wife, who is a nurse. Prashanta is committed to ensuring that Nepean remains a stable and vibrant community.

Having served as Treasurer and Vice President of Canada Foundation for Nepal, Prashanta has gained hands-on experience in governance and financial stewardship, ensuring that resources are managed with integrity and foresight. This background has shaped his insights on the importance of public policies for the collective well-being of current and future generations.

Politicians often promise social services or tax cuts without careful consideration about their sustainability. That’s not him! He insists that it’s more important that our children inherit a well-functioning society. They must not be burdened by environmental or economic debt.

Prashanta’s Priorities
Broad View of Sustainability: Promoting sustainability in its broadest sense—not only environmental stewardship but also sustainable economic models, immigration policies, and taxation systems.

Competitive Economy: Stemming brain drain and keeping young Canadians in Canada, ensuring that local innovation and expertise contribute to our national progress. Immigration is not just a numbers game; we must keep our best and the brightest at home in Canada. To that end, we must ensure that housing remains affordable.

Economic Resiliency: Advocating for policies that prioritize per capita income growth and economic resiliency over total GDP figures; and fostering a robust economy that can withstand foreign pressures. To prevent being bullied by foreign powers, Canada needs have robust domestic supply chains of key items like food, basic medicine, and energy.

Long-term Stability: Crafting a stable society in which we are not constantly fighting fires brought on by short-term thinking, thus allowing us to tackle the big challenges like climate change, demographic constraints, affordable housing, and lagging productivity.

Reducing Abuse in Safety Nets: Safety nets are safety nets; they are not hammocks! By treating them as such, we can ensure their long-term viability. Tolerating abuse and dismantling our safety nets should not be the only choices given to Canadians.

By applying a systems approach to societal challenges, Prashanta envisions a future where innovative policies create a stable, sustainable, and thriving society for you and for generations of Canadians to come.

What It Means
To Vote Green

  • It means putting communities first. Green MPs have the freedom to vote based on local priorities, not party politics. We stand firmly for Canadian communities and values against all threats.

  • It means fighting for economic fairness. Our plan provides cost-of-living relief for working Canadians while protecting jobs and businesses from economic disruptions.

  • It means building lasting prosperity. Our climate strategy creates good jobs and strong communities that can weather future challenges. We plan for generations, not election cycles.
