Steven Warren

Federal Council - Ontario

My name is Steven Warren. I was the Green Party of Ontario candidate for my riding of Ottawa West-Nepean in the 2022 provincial election. I am proud to say I was Ontario’s youngest candidate, at 18 years old, and the only openly autistic candidate. As a young person, I believe we need to take strong climate action now. My generation will be the ones going through the worst of the climate crisis, which is what motivated me to run.

Our party is facing challenges right now, and I truly believe that we need strong leadership if we seek to solve them. From discussions of pausing the leadership race, to both of our MP’s threatening to leave the caucus and now the resignations of Lorraine Rekmans and Krystal Brooks, we need to end the infighting immediately. My priorities include an end to infighting, an end to the drama and working with the next leader(s) to provide strong leadership to our party.

Our party has been torn apart this past year, thousands of Greens have left all together. We need to rebuild our lost connections, and bring back Greens who left before we can recruit new Greens. With so much infighting within our party, I ask myself this question: If we cannot trust ourselves, how can we expect Canadians to trust us? It’s that trust we must regain in order for Greens to be elected by voters.

We need a Representative on Federal Council who is committed to tackling the climate crisis and who is committed to the Green movement. I know that in order to advance the Green movement, we must have a strong party free of infighting and drama. That is why I am running to be your next Ontario Representative.
