We would be nowhere without the immeasurable contributions of our amazing Green volunteers — whether they are running for office, serving on Federal Council, or organizing outreach events in their local communities! We are excited to seize upon this rare opportunity to come together at Convention 2018 to celebrate a few of our many outstanding volunteers!
The Volunteer Awards recognize and honour the people and groups who are the heart and soul of our Green vision.
Guidelines for Nominations
Nominations must be submitted by Monday, September 10th at 11:59pm PDT. To nominate a fellow Green, please complete the nomination form, telling us why your nominee represents the spirit of the award in 200 words or less! Nominees must be Green Party members.
Individual Awards
Rod Paul Legacy Award
This award recognizes a member who has demonstrated exceptional volunteer service and long term commitment to building the Green Party of Canada. Rod Paul was a committed Green who gave of himself tirelessly, supporting volunteers across the country. Those who had the opportunity to work with him will never forget him.
Susan Roddy Award
This award is newly established this year in honour of a deeply missed member of our Green community. This award recognizes an individual who has contributed significantly towards making our Green community a welcoming and inclusive space for all. The recipient of this award represents the best of who we are in actively working to open communities to one another and creating accessible pathways for participation in the Party.
Rising Star Award
This award recognizes a newcomer (since 2015) to the Green Party who has contributed their passion and enthusiasm towards the growth of their riding association, campus club, or other Green volunteer initiative.
Community Involvement Award
This award recognizes volunteers with a proven track record of engaging citizens in the promotion of Green values such as ecological wisdom, social justice or participatory democracy within their community.
Young Green Leadership Award
This award recognizes the hard work, initiative and exceptional leadership of a Young Green volunteer. The recipient must be a Young Green (under the age of 30).
EDA Awards
Sunrise Awards (3)
These awards recognize EDAs that have shown exceptional growth and improvement over the past two years. Recipients will have made significant efforts to take their organizing to new levels — whether that means revitalizing an inactive EDA, challenging themselves to engage more members or hold more local events, or supporting other Green EDAs in their own growth!
