The first hurdle that any candidate has to jump through is to get 150 signatures (100 valid) on their Elections Canada Nomination Paper. This year, you can send in your signatures by e-mail.
Here are the steps to do that:
- Download this document
- Print it (sadly this is required!)
- Fill it out and sign it in ink (e-signature not accepted)
- Find your candidate
- Get someone to sign the form as your witness while you are signing it
- Take a high quality picture of the form or scan it
- Send it to this email address: candidate.registration@greenparty.ca
You can check the Elections Canada guide here for more information.
Important!
- Electronic signatures will not be accepted.
- You have to be a qualified elector and reside in the electoral district mentioned above. A qualified elector is a Canadian citizen who will be 18 or older on the election day,
- The witness to the signature is not required to be a qualified elector in an electoral district,
- The writing on the form must be readable so that the returning officer can validate the signature,
Every signature helps. Thank you in advance.
In addition to your signature, please help us gather more signatures:
- Download the form (room for multiple signatures)
- Print it (sadly this is required!)
- Write the name of your riding and your candidate at the top,
- Canvass your street, visit the local farmers market etc. ask your neighbours and your family & friends to sign it in ink. (Don’t forget to respect the COVID Guidelines)
- Undersign it as the witness, put your initials to every row.
- Scan it or take a high quality picture of the form
- Send it to this email address: candidate.registration@greenparty.ca
