OTTAWA – The Green Party of Canada has filed a complaint with the Commissioner of Canada Elections for the spreading of misinformation by the NDP via its proxy, Progressivevote.ca, a website that is actively promoted by NDP staff By selectively removing election results from their advertising, the NDP is actively misinforming progressive voters who are seeking the best option to prevent the election of a Conservative candidate.
Take the Nanaimo-Ladysmith riding as an example, where the NDP is falsely representing the 2021 election results. A graphic published by Progressivevote.ca excludes the 2021 results of incumbent Paul Manly. Greens received 25.85% of the vote in 2021.
The fact of the matter is that recent polling conducted by Oracle Poll Research has Paul Manly at 29% among decided voters. Meanwhile, the NDP’s Lisa Marie Barron’s polling numbers are 9%.
The following video, by the creator of SmartVoting, is instructive: https://www.tiktok.com/@cdnpoli101/video/7495227510473362743?_r=1&_t=ZM-8vhvssF8ukH
The Green Party’s complaint aligns directly with the recent recommendations of the Hogue Commission, which emphasizes the importance of transparency and accurate voter information to safeguard democratic integrity. The misleading omission of factual voting data undermines voters’ ability to make informed choices.
Democracy benefits from transparency. The Green Party can provide the polling conducted by Oracle Poll Research.
So Canadians can make fair and informed choices, the Green Party urges election officials to continue its work in guarding the information ecosystem.
