Affordable
Housing
We will make the largest investment in public housing since the 1970s, and clamp down on big investors driving up prices.
Learn MoreI am Dylan Perceval-Maxwell, a dedicated and committed environmentalist. I have spent my entire life working to slow down climate change and its growing negative effects on our planet and all living beings. My goal is to encourage a simpler way of life while reducing the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere through biochar. My favorite slogan is “Boycott everything!”
Here are some highlights from my green career:
1985: I started volunteering for the Green Party and, following that, I studied climate variability at McGill University.
Opened the first hemp store in Quebec: I opened the first store in Quebec dedicated to selling hemp-based clothing and food (now Utopia at 159 Duluth) and was the first to sell hemp-based food products in Europe.
First car in Canada: I had the first car in Canada that ran entirely on used vegetable oil.
Biodiesel pilot project: I launched Canada’s first biodiesel pilot project, in coordination with Montreal’s public transit company. This project helped reduce 265,000 tons of CO2 emissions in the atmosphere, a figure that continues to grow over time. To date, biofuels account for 6.23% of diesel in Canada.
Teaching and promoting biochar: Since 2010, I have been teaching the benefits of biochar and distributing stoves that sequester carbon in remote regions of China, Vietnam, Thailand, and Africa.
Created a unique platform: I created a platform that supports people who bury biochar in their soil to improve agricultural yields while safely sequestering carbon. This is a climate resilience action for the most vulnerable people on the planet! (See www.carbonface.org)
Green Party candidate: I have been a Green Party candidate five times in the Laurier-Sainte-Marie riding. Here are my results:
– 2.4% in 1997
– 4.88% in 2000 (I finished third, a record in the party’s history)
– 6.09% in 2004
– 8.3% in 2006
– 7.92% in 2008
Documentary: I am the main subject of the humorous documentary Democracy 4 Dummies (2007), which focuses on the art of running as a candidate in a political party.
