A Commitment Rooted in Real Life

My name is Johann Queffelec. I am a tree climber arborist by trade, a job that connects me every day with trees, nature, and green spaces, even in urban environments. This closeness to the living world shapes my political vision: a politics that cares for the world, and thus for people.

I am running for the Green Party of Canada because I believe another model is possible — a model that is more human, more respectful, and more collectively intelligent. It’s not just about “saving the planet”: it will continue without us. It’s about preserving the living conditions that allow us to exist there with dignity.

My approach is not ideological; it is grounded in reality. I want to open up a space for dialogue, challenge political habits, and offer the people of Portneuf–Jacques-Cartier a sincere, clear-sighted, and constructive option.

A Story Marked by Experience and Awareness

I do not have a smartphone. It is a conscious choice: I don’t want to be available all the time or dependent on an object that too often traps us in the moment, disconnects us from one another, and fuels overconsumption. This type of technology has a human, social, and environmental cost that is rarely discussed.

My personal journey has also been marked by illness. I had two cancers, directly linked to risks I took by exposing myself to a toxic environment — without protection, without foresight, in a productivity-driven system that values profitability over health. For a long time, I was in denial. Today, I am turning this challenge into a commitment.

I advocate for a more open, more humane approach to medicine. I support the medical legalization of psychedelics, regulated with seriousness, to help those suffering from depression linked to incurable cancer, veterans, or individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder. The future must open up to new solutions and a vision of care that includes the human being in its entirety — body, heart, and mind.

Simple Actions, But Full of Meaning

Since 2020, I have collected litter along the roadsides of my village every year. A modest action, but one that says a lot: we cannot ask others to do what we are not willing to do ourselves.

I defend the reduction of waste in all its forms: whether material, energy-related, or human. I advocate for a human-sized economy, respectful of natural cycles, the planet’s limited resources, and people’s basic needs.

I am also a co-founder of the Nourishing Forest of Saint-Raymond, a collective project that encourages food autonomy. I believe that better local food, respecting seasons and soils, also leads to better living, together.

My Commitments for Portneuf–Jacques-Cartier
If you grant me your trust, here is what I will fight for:

– A circular and local economy that strengthens the independence of our region, supports our know-how, and keeps wealth where it is created.

– Affordable housing and greener living environments, where everyone can live with dignity and in connection with nature.

– A reassessment of our work cycles and our relationship with time, to place humans at the heart of social organization.

– Governance that listens, brings people together, and values citizen initiatives, rather than governing through numbers and slogans.

– Active defence of biodiversity, as it is the fabric of life on Earth, our best ally against future crises.

– Raising awareness about energy sobriety, accompanied by a collective revision of our essential needs, so we no longer confuse comfort with excess.

And above all, the ambition to build a sustainable world, based on cooperation with the ecosystem cycles that make up our planet, rather than their domination.

I am not looking for a career. I do not claim to have all the answers. But I wish to contribute, with humility and determination, to create a future that unites us and elevates us.

I am ready to engage in dialogue, to listen, to debate. Because democracy is not the power of one, but the voice of all.

What It Means
To Vote Green

  • It means putting communities first. Green MPs have the freedom to vote based on local priorities, not party politics. We stand firmly for Canadian communities and values against all threats.

  • It means fighting for economic fairness. Our plan provides cost-of-living relief for working Canadians while protecting jobs and businesses from economic disruptions.
