I’m Greg Hopkins, and I’ve been a proud resident of Nepean for over 40 years.

I’ve raised my children in this beautiful riding, and I want to ensure it remains a great place to live for generations to come.

I hold degrees in Psychology from Carleton University and Social Service Work from Algonquin College. For the past 24 years, I’ve worked as a Child and Youth Counsellor in child welfare, advocating for the well-being of vulnerable children and families.

Currently, I serve as Treasurer on the Executive of my local public service union and as a member of the collective bargaining team.

A Stronger, More Inclusive Community
I believe that every member of our community is equal, deserves inclusion, and must be invited to the discussion. I encourage everyone to contribute their strengths to keep our community clean, safe, sustainable, and environmentally responsible for future generations. No left, no right—only forward!

Fighting for Nepean’s Public Servants
Nepean is home to many federal public servants, and I will fight to end the federal return-to-office mandate. Environmentally, this policy makes no sense—it forces thousands of residents back into unnecessary daily commutes. The impact on families is severe: studies show that 40% of marriages end in divorce when a spouse commutes more than 45 minutes per day. This is the reality of our suburban riding, and I will push for policies that respect work-life balance and reduce environmental harm.

Fixing Nepean’s Transportation Crisis
Nepean has been neglected by Ottawa’s public transportation system. We have no access to the train, our roads and highways are overcrowded, and our buses are unreliable. It is unacceptable for workers to be forced back to downtown offices without proper transit infrastructure. I will fight for increased federal funding to fix our broken suburban transportation network and ensure Nepean gets the services it deserves.

Ending Forced Poverty & Fighting for Economic Justice
Through my work in social services, I’ve witnessed firsthand the daily struggles of our most vulnerable community members—lack of housing, skyrocketing food costs, precarious jobs with little security, and inadequate healthcare support. Meanwhile, billions of taxpayer dollars are wasted on ineffective programs instead of reaching the people who need it most.

A Guaranteed Basic Income (GBI) is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and suffering. I will fight to redirect taxpayer money directly to those who need it, ensuring every Canadian has access to housing, food, healthcare, and education—free of charge, as is their right.

Leading by Example: Donating My MP Salary
In solidarity with the most vulnerable members of our community, I will not accept any salary if elected as your MP. Instead, 100% of my MP earnings will be donated directly back to Nepean’s most urgent community needs.

A Green Future for Nepean
We must prioritize sustainable energy development and investment. The outdated “drill, baby, drill” mentality has no place in modern politics. Instead, we must rethink, refuse, reduce, reuse, repair, regift, and recycle.

To combat the climate crisis, I will:
– Push for an expanded electric vehicle industry
– Ensure open-source repair rights for all electric cars—so any mechanic can fix them
– Hold automakers accountable for making replacement batteries affordable and accessible before electric cars are sold

Nepean is Green!

Together, we can harness clean energy, smart policies, and bold action to build a sustainable, fair, and thriving future for all. Let’s make it happen!

What It Means
To Vote Green

  • It means putting communities first. Green MPs have the freedom to vote based on local priorities, not party politics. We stand firmly for Canadian communities and values against all threats.

  • It means fighting for economic fairness. Our plan provides cost-of-living relief for working Canadians while protecting jobs and businesses from economic disruptions.

  • It means building lasting prosperity. Our climate strategy creates good jobs and strong communities that can weather future challenges. We plan for generations, not election cycles.
