Bridget Burns is proud to run for the Green Party of Canada in Lakeland, inspired by deep family roots in the community—her 103-year-old Baba was born and raised in Smoky Lake. Guided by the values passed down through generations—shared resources, care for the land, and never wasting a thing—Bridget is committed to building a more equitable, sustainable, and compassionate future for all Canadians.

Bridget currently works as a Political Organizer with the Green Party of Canada and brings a collaborative spirit, a strong sense of justice, and a practical approach to politics. Her campaign is centered on the real concerns she’s heard from people across Lakeland—whether it’s accessing a family doctor, affording a home, or supporting farmers in the face of environmental and economic challenges.

In speaking with local growers, Bridget has heard clearly that farmers need better support to build resilience and long-term sustainability. She advocates for a shift toward organic and ecological farming practices that promote biodiversity, reduce reliance on chemical inputs, and create more localized food systems—ensuring food security for all Canadians.

Health care is another top priority. Bridget believes in strengthening Canada’s universal public health system—not expanding for-profit care. She supports the Green Party’s plan to implement a national, fully funded Pharmacare program to ensure that prescription medications are free for everyone.

Bridget also understands the urgency of the affordability crisis. With the cost of food, housing, and transportation rising, she’s fighting for policies that offer real relief to families. This includes eliminating federal income tax on earnings under $40,000, introducing a Guaranteed Livable Income starting with persons with disabilities, and increasing support through the Canada Child Tax Benefit.

Running in Lakeland is personal for Bridget. She’s determined to represent her community with integrity, kindness, and open dialogue—always putting people and the planet first. Bridget is ready to listen, to lead, and to bring a fresh voice to Ottawa that truly reflects the values of Lakelandians.

What It Means
To Vote Green

  • It means putting communities first. Green MPs have the freedom to vote based on local priorities, not party politics. We stand firmly for Canadian communities and values against all threats.

  • It means fighting for economic fairness. Our plan provides cost-of-living relief for working Canadians while protecting jobs and businesses from economic disruptions.

  • It means building lasting prosperity. Our climate strategy creates good jobs and strong communities that can weather future challenges. We plan for generations, not election cycles.
