Andrew Muirhead was born in Saskatoon and lived there until he was eight years old. He was hit by a car and really badly injured. This influenced his family to move to Waldheim.

There he was involved for years helping take care of an expanding family of siblings. He already had one sister when they moved, then his mom had another baby. The family adopted Ashley, his cousin (through a Person of Sufficient Interest order); then they adopted Ashley’s mom’s infant kids as well. Andrew provided care for all of them throughout his growing-up years. The kids all had autism and other special needs. This really sparked his interest in helping kids who were in “the system.” This early lived experience is a big factor in Andrew’s path to MP candidacy. His compassion for the suffering of others will be a prime asset to his constituents when he serves them after winning his seat in the House of Commons. Andrew recently ran provincially for the Saskatchewan Green Party in Prince Albert Carlton in the recent 2024 provincial election.

Andrew suffers from Crohn’s disease Disease, but he still works full-time. He met his wife Alyssa online during the COVID-19 pandemic. He looks forward to being a young voice for Saskatchewan’s north when he wins his seat.
