I am a retired geophysicist who has lived in Calgary for over 60 years, most of that in the Dalhousie community. In the last decade or so, I have seen the political landscape deteriorate significantly, and my concern has led to action. I am also greatly concerned about the strains being put on our environment and the need to prepare for climate change.

The Six Principles shared by Green parties around the world struck a chord deep within me. These are (in no particular order):

– Sustainability
– Non-violence
– Social Justice
– Respect for Diversity
– Ecological Wisdom
– Participatory Democracy

After working on some very successful sign campaigns (including Alberta Beyond Coal and Defend Alberta Parks, for which I was the sign manager) and attending protests (e.g., against coal development on the eastern slopes of the Rockies), I felt that I had to step up as a candidate.

I believe that without more transparency within the political sphere and more universal representation within government, without political reform, we will never be able to make significant progress with the Six Principles, which I consider key to making this a better world. I am prepared to work hard towards this.

What It Means
To Vote Green

  • It means putting communities first. Green MPs have the freedom to vote based on local priorities, not party politics. We stand firmly for Canadian communities and values against all threats.

  • It means fighting for economic fairness. Our plan provides cost-of-living relief for working Canadians while protecting jobs and businesses from economic disruptions.

  • It means building lasting prosperity. Our climate strategy creates good jobs and strong communities that can weather future challenges. We plan for generations, not election cycles.
