James Plunkett is your Green Party candidate for Chatham-Kent–Leamington.
He is a 41 year old AZ truck driver (past 11 years); he was also an AZ driving instructor when times were slow during COVID. James has called Bothwell home for about 10 years. He grew up primarily in Keswick, a town in the northern GTA. Although he has a disability, he never lets it get in his way when following his dreams. James was in Boy Scouts for over 12 years.

Family Life
James was adopted at 3.

His mom is a GTA school board  assessor,  often working with adult ESL students. His dad worked at York Region CAS as a supervisor of Adoption, Kinship Care, and Customary Care. His sister is a vice principal at a high school.

James is engaged to a 39 year old school bus driver. They are getting married later this year.

Political Side
In the early 2000s, James helped a friend’s mother with her campaigns, in 3 different elections. As a teenager, he did all he could, from putting up signs and going to debates to show his support, among other duties.

Since the 1990s, he has taken on many online leadership rolls in Alliances. His role in  Alliances includes:  building the alliance by recruiting new members; dealing with internal problems; making agreements and forming allegiances with other alliances; dealing with problems as they arise, and yes, sometimes war (they are war games). Keeping the peace is the priority and there is so much more to the position.

Why James is Running for MP
James believes he can be the voice of those that don’t get a voice in the House of Commons, specifically those with lower incomes.  In his lifetime,  he has experienced many issues associated with low income, like working minimum wage jobs with minimal hours, not knowing how he could make rent. James understands the difficulties of working paycheque to paycheque; if anything goes wrong, you need to delay paying a bill off to compensate.

James understands people with disabilities because he grew up with one; he is familiar with programs and technologies to allow them to follow their dreams.
James Plunkett would also like to see further efforts on climate change. He believes the Green Party is the best party to combat climate change.

What It Means
To Vote Green

  • It means putting communities first. Green MPs have the freedom to vote based on local priorities, not party politics. We stand firmly for Canadian communities and values against all threats.

  • It means fighting for economic fairness. Our plan provides cost-of-living relief for working Canadians while protecting jobs and businesses from economic disruptions.

  • It means building lasting prosperity. Our climate strategy creates good jobs and strong communities that can weather future challenges. We plan for generations, not election cycles.
