Affordable
Housing
We will make the largest investment in public housing since the 1970s, and clamp down on big investors driving up prices.
Learn MoreAtul Deshmukh, the Green Party candidate for Edmonton Strathcona, lives in this riding, bringing the wealth of experience and a fresh, transformative vision for the people.
With a background in engineering, a Master’s degree in Project Management, and significant international experience, Atul is uniquely qualified to address Edmonton Strathcona’s most pressing issues. His career spans work at the Kandahar Air Base as a civilian in Afghanistan, Africa, Asia, and Canada’s High Arctic Inuit communities, where he has developed a deep understanding of community-driven solutions and sustainable development.
Atul’s overseas experience, particularly in remote Inuit Arctic communities, has equipped him to handle complex issues related to infrastructure, socio-economic development, and sustainability. His work in Nunavut, ranging from Grise Fiord to Sanikiluaq, demonstrated his ability to build partnerships and deliver effective solutions in communities facing extreme conditions and unique challenges. His experience with community engagement and sustainable projects in these regions informs his vision for a greener, more inclusive Edmonton Strathcona.
While the current representation in Edmonton Strathcona has made efforts to address issues like housing affordability and climate change, progress has been incremental and lacks the urgency needed for substantial change.
Atul believes that Edmonton Strathcona needs a candidate who will take bold, sustainable action to address homelessness, create affordable, eco-friendly housing, and ensure inclusive employment opportunities for all. Unlike the incumbent’s approach, which has failed to push for transformational electoral reform and has been slow to act on financial inequality, Atul’s Green Party platform offers green and sustainable solutions for inclusive housing, green jobs, and financial security for vulnerable populations.
Atul is committed to electoral reform, advocating for proportional representation to ensure that every vote counts. He will work for policies that promote multicultural inclusivity and ensure that immigrants, Indigenous communities, and youth with disabilities have the support they need to thrive. Atul’s plan also includes reforming Canada’s MAiD laws to protect vulnerable individuals and provide better safeguards.
Atul Deshmukh is the candidate Edmonton Strathcona needs—a leader who brings experience, a commitment to sustainability, and a dedication to inclusive policies that will drive real change in the community. His vision is one of green innovation, economic equity, and social justice. Atul will be a champion for affordable housing, climate action, and inclusive opportunities for all residents.
