OTTAWA — In a recent Facebook post Liberal candidate Michelle Corfield asked voters to “do your research”. So, we did.
The latest OraclePoll Research survey, conducted April 23-24 with a statistically significant sample of 800 live person-to-person calls with randomly selected voters in Nanaimo-Ladysmith, clearly shows that at 28% Paul Manly continues to be the only progressive candidate within striking distance of Poilievre’s Conservatives, currently sitting at 35%. The NDP and Liberal candidates currently trail the Conservatives by 21% and 13% respectively.
OraclePoll Research is a recognized professional third party polling firm. The sample size of 800 connected calls to random local cell phones and landlines is large for a riding level poll and is more than half the sample size of most national polls (which typically range from 1200 to 1500 respondents). The margin of error is just +/- 3.5%, due to the statistically significant sample size.
On the other hand, the polling released by Liberal candidate Michelle Corfield, conducted by Spadina Strategies, is based on an IVR (interactive voice response) survey of just 307 voters conducted April 20-21, with a stated margin of error of +\- 6.19%.
