Good Jobs in Clean Industries
The world is moving to clean energy, but Canada is falling behind. Other countries are creating new industries and good jobs. But our government keeps supporting oil and gas companies instead. We’re missing out on millions of good jobs in the industries of tomorrow. The Green Party has a plan to fix this. We’ll build an economy that works for people, not polluters.
Building Canada’s Clean Energy Future
Canada has everything we need to lead in clean energy. We’ll invest in:
- Clean power projects that create thousands of good jobs
- A national electrical power grid to connect all of Canada
- A nation-wide retrofit program for buildings and homes, to save energy and cut costs
- Research and innovation for clean technology and climate adaptation
Clean technology should not create new environmental problems. Mining for critical minerals can damage land and water. We’ll enforce strict rules to protect the environment. We’ll require the consent of Indigenous communities about mining activity on their lands. And we’ll ensure that AI data centers run on clean energy.
Taking Care of Workers
Moving to clean energy means big changes for some workers and communities. We won’t leave anyone behind. We’ll guarantee good wages during the change. We’ll provide training for new jobs. We’ll support strong unions to protect workers’ rights. We’ll make it easier for skilled workers to work in any province. And we’ll make sure Indigenous and rural communities benefit from new opportunities in clean energy.
Artificial Intelligence will also change how many of us work. Some jobs will disappear entirely. Others will change dramatically. We’ll create a Guaranteed Livable Income to protect people through these changes.
These changes are already happening. Canada can lead or be left behind. We choose to lead. We’ll create good jobs while fighting climate change. This is how we’ll build an economy that works for everyone.
